it’s been almost a year. wow. even for me, that’s an exceptionally poor showing. briefly, from what i can recall since the last time: designed a few more festivals; walked through and ate up Macau; escaped from the horror-show hotels and “wtf, no swimming allowed?” beaches of Hainan, China; punched out a new brand identity for a cultural management firm; and incorporated sugar-free, high-protein, key lime cheesecakes into my training diet. also, somewhere in there is another tournament gold medal, made possible in part to KT Tape, Adidas Compression Calf Sleeves and, of course, said home-made cheesecakes.
in terms of design, here’s something recent: the poster/key art for the 2016 DOXA Documentary Film Festival, which had its program/media launch last night. (i’m told the event featured a combination of two of the finest achievements in contemporary society: burlesque dancing and catering. i missed both. sigh.)
the image is from Looking for Exits: Conversations with a Wingsuit Artist, which follows American BASE jumper athlete and fastest woman in the world, Ellen Brennan. the shot/framegrab is from a Canon EOS C300, through the eyes of cinematographer Peter Alsted. Kristoffer Hegnsvad’s film gets its Canadian Premiere at DOXA on Friday, May 13.
